For more than 60 years, the Japanese Government has funded Filipino scholars, among other nationals from all over the world, to study in Japan. For the past few years, there are approximately 100 scholars in average from the Philippines to have been sent to study in Japan under six different scholarship programs each year.
Pack up your luggage as the Land of the Rising: Japan, is currently looking for scholars to apply for its four scholarship programs under MEXT initiatives including Undergraduate, College of Technology, Specialized Training College and Research categories for the year 2025.
Undergraduate College of Technology
This scholarship shall give interested applicants the chance to consume up to five (5) or seven (7) years for those majoring in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or in a six-year course in pharmacy) at a Japanese college or university as an undergraduate degree student in one of two fields being studied: Natural Science, or Social Science.
In order to qualify for this scholarship, an appplicant must be born on or after April 2, 2000.
He or she must have graduated from high school by March of the year of departure.
And lastly, he or she must learn and receive instruction in the Japanese language.
College of Technology
This scholarship is available for applicants who want to consume up to 4 years at a Japanese college of technology and should also possess the qualifications indicated for Undergraduate.
Specialized Training College
This scholarship is an offering for interested applicants the chance to consume up to 3 years at a Japanese professional training school. Similar to Undergraduate, the applicants shall also possess the abovementioned eligibility criteria asked.
Research Student Scholarship
Lastly, this scholarship shall be available for applicants the chance to spend at least 18 or 24 months conducting independent research under a Japanese professor. Any field of study is allowed, however, applicants must find a Japanese professor who is willing to supervise their research.
To be considered, an applicant must have been born on or after April 2, 1990.
He or she must be a university or college graduate.
Also, he or she must intend to continue a course of study previously begun, i.e. shall not begin study in a field new to the applicant.
Upon passing the first selection process, applicants must gain a “Letter of Provisional Acceptance” from a Japanese professor who is willing to supervise the study of the applicant.
Note that if the host university deems it necessary, the applicants may learn and receive instruction in the Japanese language.
