Good news might be on the way for Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries as the government is eyeing to increase the cash grants they are receiving in the year 2026.
According to Manila Bulletin's published report, 4Ps beneficiaries allowance increase is expected to be implemented in the abovementioned year.
This scheme according to the report shall help 4Ps beneficiaries to cope up with the painstaking inflation in the country.
A committee hearing in the House of Representatives was conducted whereas a general agreement was made regarding the increase in the cash grants for 4Ps beneficiaries.
Here's a breakdown of increase in the cash grants for 4Ps beneficiaries tackled in the consensus:
For 4Ps beneficiaries who have a child enrolled in daycare, cash grants would increase from Php300 to Php350 per month.
While for those 4Ps beneficiaries who have a junior high school child, increment would be from Php500 to Php600.
Additionally, for 4Ps beneficiaries who have a child studying in senior high school, the hike would be from Php700 to Php800.
Moving forward, for the health and nutrition grants of 4Ps beneficiaries, it would increase from the previous Php750 to Php850.
Meanwhile, the rice subsidies 4Ps beneficiaries are receiving with the amount of P600 will remain the same.
It was also mentioned that the monthly cash grant for pregnant and lactating mother beneficiaries within the first 1,000 days of their children’s life was settled at Php350.
All in all, the total cash grants for all the increase that will be imposed for 4Ps beneficiaries will elevate to Php3,550 from the current Php2,850.
National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) stated that the study conducted for the 4Ps beneficiaries cash allowance adjustments will ensure the purchasing power of the grant to stay the same.
As per the proposed National Expenditure Program (NEP), the budget for 4Ps beneficiaries is seen to increase approximately to Php114 billion in 2025 from the Php106 billion allocated to the program for the current year.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) tallied 4.4 million households nationwide who are active members of the government’s conditional cash transfer program.
It was also studied that on the first quarter of the year, the DSWD has identified 700,000 households that are now self-sufficient, whereas they could, graduate from the 4Ps.
According to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) the headline inflation in the country has decreased from 3.9 percent in May to 3.7 percent in June which evidently risen up for four months due to easing of energy and transport costs.
