The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has previously announced that the release of cash grants for approximately 761,140 Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries is set today, further, eligible 4Ps beneficiaries are also entitled to their rice subsidies.
According to Manila Standard Net, the withheld health cash grants of 4Ps beneficiaries were put on hold for nine months from January to September 2023. The halt in the cash grants of 4Ps beneficiaries was due to the undertaken revalidation of the 4Ps National Project Management Office (NPMO). This move has identified 4Ps beneficiaries who are no longer included in the poor category of the DSWD.
Of the 1,158,249 households, only 761,140 4Ps beneficiaries remained in the poor section. Based on the reassessment, it showed that some 4,242 households were in Level 1 or Survival Level; 756,898 households in Level 2 or Subsistence Level; and 339,660 households in Level 3 or Self-Sufficient.
The verdict stated that 4Ps beneficiaries covered in Level 1 and Level 2 will stay in the DSWD's list while those included in Level 3 will no longer be eligible for the said cash grants. According to Manila Bulletin, his scheme was ratified by Secretary Rex Gatchalian under "Guidance on the Processing of Unpaid Grants to Qualified 759,041 4Ps Household-Beneficiaries for the Period January 2023-September 2023" last October.
Aside from non-compliance cash grants, eligible 4Ps beneficiaries will also be elated to receive their rice subsidies. The announcement also mentioned the education grants which shall be based on compliance and will be proceeding starting February 2024.
The 4Ps is a human development program that provides social protection, social assistance, social development, and other complementary support services in partnership with concerned agencies, LGUs, and other stakeholders toward improving the health and nutrition, education, and socio-economic aspects of Filipino households in need.
