Cebuana Lhuillier Foundation, Inc., the corporate social responsibility arm of the PJ Lhuillier Group of Companies, is once again trying to empower underprivileged students through a scholarship program that is set to open on May 10, 2024.
This scholarship shall be open for undergraduate Filipino students who will meet the requirements asked by Cebuana Lhuillier. This scholarship applies nationwide and shall support their college education from 1st to 4th year.
An applicant must be a Filipino citizen. He or she must also be a Cebuana Lhuillier client or his/her children, siblings or spouse with proof of pawning, Pera Padala and/or CL Microsavings transaction.
The applicant must also possess a Cebuana Lhuillier Microsavings account and Cebuana Lhuillier 24K Loyalty card.
Further, he or she must be enrolled in a state university or college under an undergraduate program in the following courses: Accountancy or Finance Management courses; Business courses; Information Technology/ Computer Science courses; Hotel & Restaurant Management/ Hospitality Management courses; Engineering courses (Electrical, Civil, Mechanical and Industrial) and Architecture.
And lastly, his or her total annual family income must not exceed Php 500,000.
Scholars of CLFI shall be entitled to a financial assistance amounting to Php 16,000 per semester or Php 50,000 per year.
Each year, scholars must attend assemblies and learning sessions facilitated by highly qualified resource persons or subject matter experts.
There are also outreach programs with the scholars to strengthen their spirit of volunteerism.
Scholars of CLFI may enroll to any state university or college they want provided that they are offering the abovementioned supported courses.
As per terms and conditions, scholars are obliged to maintain a general weighted average of at least 85% every semester without any failing grade in any subject or an incomplete subject.
Additionally, the Education to Employment (E2E) provision of CLFI upon scholarship agreements will no longer requires PJLI pre-employment test for scholars who will be graduating with Latin honors or with a general weighted average of 90% or equivalent.
If not, scholars will have to undergo the standard employment process.
