The Scholarship Program for Coconut Farmers and Their Families (CoScho) is a joint initiative by CHED and the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), offering robust academic support to deserving students from coconut-farming households. Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for CoScho, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- Citizenship & Academic Standing
Filipino senior high school graduates (minimum GWA of 80%) or college students with ≥80% in the most recent semester - Enrollment in CHED-PCA-Identified Programs
Fields include agriculture, agribusiness, agricultural engineering, agricultural economics, and other relevant courses - Residency & Registration
Must be registered coconut farmers or dependents under the National Coconut Farmers Registry System (NCFRS) - Income Guidelines
The combined gross annual income of parents/guardians must not exceed ₱300,000. Exceptions may apply for families with medical issues or multiple college-going dependents. - No Duplication of Assistance
Applicants must not hold another government scholarship; privately funded grants covering only tuition are allowed provided entry requirements are met.
Documentary Requirements
All documents must be uploaded via CHED’s CoScho portal in PDF format:
- PSA-issued Birth Certificate
- Academic records:
- Senior high students: certified grades for Grades 11 & 12 (1st semester)
- Graduates: Form 138
- College students: Certified grades for the latest semester
- PCA Certification (one application per household)
- Certificate of Good Moral Character
- Income documentation (one of the following): latest ITR, BIR Tax-Exempt/No-Income Certificate, Barangay Indigency, or DSWD case study
- HEI Admission Notice (must be enrolling in eligible program)
- Special group certifications (e.g., PWD, IP) if applicable
- Barangay certification proving first-generation college enrollment for parents/siblings (if applicable)
Benefits or Financial Support Package
Under RA 10931 (Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act), tuition is covered for SUCs/LUCs; thus, CoScho focuses on allowances:
Regular Semester Allowances (per AY):
- Stipend: ₱35,000 per semester (₱70,000 annually)
- Book & learning materials: ₱5,000 per semester (₱10,000 annually)
Additional One-Time Grants:
- Thesis/OJT allowance: ₱75,000
- Conference/Fora attendance (local): ₱10,000
- First-year laptop grant: ₱30,000
Note: Thesis must be individually focused on the coconut industry to qualify.
