The Department of Science and Technology- Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (DOST-PCHRD) is hereby calling the attention of all interested student applicants for the second time around to apply for DOST-PCHRD Undergraduate Thesis Grant in Natural Products.
What is the Grant All About?
The DOST-PCHRD Scholarship is a grant intended to provide funds to support all undergraduate students who want to conduct their thesis on natural products from plants and microorganisms.
Scholars who will be chosen for the grant should be able to use natural products from terrestrial/marine plants and/or microorganisms indigenous in the region. Hence, the project should be accomplished within five (5) months upon receiving the grant.
The DOST-PCHRD Scholarship is a program conducted each year, attempting to sustain a research culture in natural products maximizing the number of research and consequently creating a pool of researchers/experts specializing in the field.
Who may Apply for the Grant?
According to the announcement, all undergraduate students enrolled in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Nursing, and Health and Allied Sciences who have thesis proposals on natural products are eligible to apply.
What are the Benefits?
Scholars of the grant will be able to receive an amount to a maximum of seventy-five thousand pesos (PHP 75,000).
For the current call, there will be two (2) to four (4) qualified thesis proposals per region based on the availability of funds.
What are the Documentary Requirements to be Submitted?
All applicants shall be able to prepare the following documentary requirements and submit them to to their respective Regional Health Research and Development Consortium (RHRDC):
- duly accomplished prescribed research proposal form with college seal;
- proposed Line-Item Budget (LIB) with breakdown of expenses;
- endorsement letter from the institution signed by the head of the university and the college dean;
- certificate of plant authentication;
- applicable clearance/s; and
- curriculum vitae of the student/s and adviser.
