Are you a Filipino youth looking for a meaningful way to spend your time while building your future career? Do you want to experience working in the government and become an agent of change in your community? If your answer is yes, then the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) has the perfect opportunity for you.
What is the DSWD Government Internship Program (GIP)?
The Government Internship Program (GIP) is a component of the Kabataan 2000 initiative under the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). In partnership with various government agencies like DSWD, GIP is designed to provide opportunities for Filipino youth to gain hands-on experience in public service, develop valuable skills, and prepare for future employment.
Every year, thousands of young people participate in this internship program to learn the ropes of government work, enhance their competencies, and contribute meaningfully to public service.
DSWD’s GIP: Empowering the Filipino Youth
As one of the leading implementers of GIP, the DSWD provides interns with immersive work experiences in various departments, including social welfare, administration, human resources, and more. Interns are exposed to real-life government functions and policies, giving them a solid foundation for a future in public service or other professional sectors.
For Calendar Year (CY) 2025, DSWD is opening its doors again for Batch 2 of the Government Internship Program. If you missed the previous batch or are looking for a new opportunity, this is your chance!
Application Period: May 19–21, 2025
Mark your calendars! The application window for Batch 2 of DSWD’s GIP 2025 runs from May 19 to 21, 2025. Interested applicants are encouraged to submit their documents promptly, as slots are limited and the program is highly competitive.
Why Join the DSWD GIP?
1. Gain Valuable Work Experience
This internship gives you firsthand exposure to how government agencies operate. Interns perform real tasks, such as preparing reports, assisting in community-based activities, and helping with administrative functions. These experiences are not only practical but also highly relevant for future job applications.
2. Develop Professional Skills
As a GIP intern, you’ll sharpen critical skills such as:
- Communication
- Teamwork
- Time Management
- Problem-solving
- Leadership
Many previous GIP participants found that their internship gave them a competitive edge in both government and private sector job applications.
3. Earn a Daily Stipend
Interns receive a daily stipend equivalent to 75% of the prevailing minimum wage in the region. This financial support helps cover daily expenses and encourages more youth to join, especially those from low-income households.
4. Contribute to Nation-Building
By participating in this program, you become part of the country’s efforts toward inclusive growth and development. You don’t just gain experience—you also make a difference in your community by supporting government programs that uplift the lives of Filipinos.
