The Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), in partnership with the ASEAN University Network (AUN) Secretariat, that serves as one of the regional hosts, is proud to announce and introduce the new JSPS International Fellowships for Research in Japan for the academic year 2025-2026.
As per the announcement, the scholarship's goal is to give opportunities for pre/post-doctoral researchers from the ASEAN member countries.
This will allow them to conduct cooperative research under the guidance of their hosts in Japanese universities and other Japanese institutions.
Therefore, the scholarship shall help overseas researchers’ to pursue their research activities and at the same time advance in Science and promoting internationalization in Japan.
The ASEAN member countries eligible for the scholarship include Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.
Successful and qualified scholars shall received a comprehensive package including round-trip airfare upon JSPS regulations, monthly allowance of 362,000 JPY (Php130,320) for Ph.D, meanwhile, non-Ph.D. holders will receive 200,000 JPY (Php72,000).
JSPS noted that those who obtain a degree during the employment period, the allowance can be adjusted to 362,000 JPY per month.
Scholars are also entitled to a settling-in allowance of 200,000 JPY for fellows with 3 or more months of tenure and a research support allowance of up to 70,000 JPY (Php25,200) per month.
To apply for this wonderful opportunity, interested applicants in ASEAN Member States are advised to review and follow the eligibility and application details carefully via the AUN Secretariat's website. Applications shall be entertained until July 31, 2024.
