For the 48th year, National Youth Commission is pleased to announce that the Cabinet Office of Japan, in collaboration with the ASEAN Member States, is now accepting applications for SSEAYP.
This initiative is part of a transformative program that is scheduled to occur from November 4, 2024 to December 11, 2024 which aims to represents a significant milestone in fostering regional coopx`eration and cultural exchange.
Moreover, participating youths of ASEAN Member States and Japan will experience exchange activities which include courtesy visits of the participating youths, group discussions, and local program in Japan.
This year, participants will undergo discussion themes revolving around Soft Power and Youth People to People Diplomacy; Economic Growth and Sustainable Community; Global Environment and Climate Change; Disaster Risk Reduction and Recovery; Good Health and Well-being; and Digital Society.
The Philippines, via the National Youth Commission, is expected to send sixteen (16) Philippine Participating Youths (1 National Leader and 15 youth delegates) to the program.
Participating youths shall be involved in several activities both onboard the ship and during local programs such as courtesy visits, field studies, homestays, interaction with local youths, solidarity group activities, voluntary activities, peer-learning seminars, national presentation and post-program sessions.
For participating youth delegates, certain qualifications must be meet. One must be a Filipino citizen who is 18 to 30 years old as of May 8, 2024.
He or she must have an interest in youth exchange program between ASEAN Member States and Japan and a prominent active youth leader in their group/organization/community/society.
Also, he or she must be proficient in English to participate in the discussion activities and must be knowledgeable in Philippine history, geography, culture and arts and the region to be represented.
Further, he or she must have a knowledge on current issues about ASEAN and Japan. Essentially, a Philippine passport holder and should be interested in becoming an NYC volunteer and conduct post-program advocacy activities.
Additionally, he or she must not priorly participated in the previous SSEAYP program, aside from participants in the past SSEAYP online conferences (SSEAYP 2020/2021/2022).
Participants shall be able to fully participate in every activity during the program and attend all the activities indicated in the initiative.
As for participating national leaders, one must be a Filipino citizen between the ages of 35 to 49 years as of May 8, 2024.
He or she must not have been convicted with finality of a crime involving moral turpitude and/or a crime with a penalty of imprisonment of more than six years.
They should be physically and mentally fit to travel and with experience in handling or managing or supervising groups.
Knowledge on current issues about the Philippines, Japan, other ASEAN countries, and other international concerns is also asked.
Former SSEAYP participating youths are preferred but any of the following may also apply provided that they are willing to take a leave of absence from work and complete all trainings and activities before, during and after the program.
A permanent government employee who at least holds a supervisory position with a salary grade of SG 18 or above; an appointed government official with SG 24 and above and whose term will not end before the post-program evaluation; private sector employee who has relevant participation with the youth sector or active membership in socio-civic organizations for at least five (5) years and with managerial position duly certified and endorsed by the head of the institution they represent.
