Security Bank Corporation, one of the Philippines' top tier and universal banks serving retail, commercial, corporate and institutional clients, will start to accept applications for its internal scholarship program and external scholarship program under Scholars for Better Communities for the academic year 2024-2025.
For the internal scholarship program, this initiative shall provide educational assistance to Security Bank Group employees and their children. Hence, the scholarship program aims employee retention and development.
For Security Bank employees, in order for their dependents to be eligible, they must have at least 2 years tenure from permanency, have good employment record, have at least average performance appraisal rating, and rank must be up to Senior Assistant Vice President (SAVP).
Meanwhile, for their dependents, they must be children of employees and must be from elementary to college level applicants and employees themselves must be post-graduate level applicants.
Also, students' latest General Weighted Average (GWA) must be at least 83% or its equivalent and they must have no other family member currently admitted to the scholarship within second degree of consanguinity or affinity and not beneficiaries of other existing scholarship except for discounts provided by schools.
Security Bank will allot scholarship slots to elementary to college students taking up courses of their choice while post-graduate employee applicants shall take courses directly supporting bank operations.
As for the benefits, each scholars shall be able to receive tuition and miscellaneous fees where elementary to senior high school shall receive a maximum of Php 65,000 per year while college and Master’s degree shall receive a maximum of Php 85,000 per year.
Additionally, they shall receive a stipend where elementary to senior high school will acquire blended learning delivery of Php 20,000 per year which will be released quarterly while for face-to-face learning delivery, they will acquire Php 30,000 per year also released quarterly.
For college scholars, they will receive Php 30,000 per year which shall be released quarterly and for Master's degree, depending on the number of units taken up to a maximum will receive P30,000 per year while for three (3) units or below, scholars will receive Php 7,500 per semester.
Moving forward with the External scholarship program, this initiative shall aim to provide educational assistance to underprivileged but deserving students studying in Security Bank Foundation partner schools.
Security Bank partner schools shall include Ateneo De Manila University, Chiang Kai Shek College, De La Salle University– Manila, Far Eastern University– Manila, Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, Polytechnic University of the Philippines– Manila, University of the Philippines– Diliman, and University of Santo Tomas– Manila.
Scholars of this scholarship will have the chance to pursue a course directly supporting bank operations which include Accountancy, Accounting Information System/ Technology, Internal Auditing, Marketing, Financial Management, Industrial Engineering, Management Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Business Analytics/ Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science/ Technology, and Information Systems/ Technology.
Applicants will be coursed thoroughly that is why they must know the qualifications conditioned by Security Bank such as being graduating grade 12 students from public or private school who possess latest General Weighted Average (GWA) of at least 90% or its equivalent.
Scholars parent must not currently employed or assigned in Security Bank and no other family member currently admitted to the scholarship within second degree of consanguinity or affinity.
Lastly, they must also not beneficiaries of other existing scholarship except for discounts provided by schools and must enroll in any of the eight (8) partner schools in Nation Capital Region of Security Bank.
Upon successful and careful consideration, each scholar is entitled to a comprehensive benefits per academic year until he finishes his tertiary course.
For those who will study in State Universities, they will receive a monthly stipend of Php 25,000 per half-semester or Php 100,000 per year where scholar gets the stipend directly from the school.
Meanwhile, in accordance with the Free Tuition Law, there will be no miscellaneous fees allotment.
Meanwhile, for those who will study in Private Universities, scholars will have the chance to acquire a stipend of Php 12,500 per half-semester or Php 50,000 per year where scholar gets the stipend directly from the school.
For tuition and miscellaneous fees, they will be granted a maximum of Php 100,000 per year.
