Do you want to enhance your English prowess including your grammar, writing ability, and research skills? The University of the Philippines Diliman also referred to as UP Diliman or simply University of the Philippines (UP), is offering an online program called Intensive English Program (IEP) to interested students who want to take advantage of this opportunity.

What is Intensive English Program?
The Intensive English Program is a 30-hour intensive English classes offered by UP Department of English and Comparative Literature for all interested Filipinos.
The Intensive English Program will be convenient and accessible for all applicants as it shall be conducted online and will run for five (5) Saturdays.
Date, Time, and Topics for Intensive English Program
On October 12, 2024, the first class will start from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm discussing about Grammar Review Gender-Fair Writing and will continue from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm with the topic The Word: Vocabulary building, concrete & specific words, denotation & connotation, figurative language, etc.

The next class will be on October 19, 2024 with the same time frame previously mentioned focusing on the topics Writing effective sentences and Writing effective paragraphs, writing a precis and a paraphrase, consecutively.
The same time frame will be applied to the following classes. On October 26, 2024, topics include Basic Research: phrasing the research question, writing the thesis statement, and preparing the formal outline and Basic Research: identifying and evaluating various sources of information, choosing a documentation style.
For November 9, topics will revolve around Evaluating different kinds of proposals: research proposal, project proposal, etc. and Writing and revising a proposal.

Lastly, topics such as Evaluating different kinds of reports, letters, memos and Writing reports, letters, memos are scheduled on November 16, 2024.
How to Enroll for the Intensive English Program?
Although the Intensive English Program is conducted virtually sparing you from transportation costs, there will be a P4,900 fee which may be paid via Land Bank of the Philippines.
After completion of the Intensive English Program, student completers will be given a certificate of attendance provided that they are able to finish at least 24 hours of training.
