Do you want to obtain a full scholarship program in the United States? If you are teaching English for not more than seven years in the Philippines, you are invited to apply for the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant (FLTA) Program offered by Fulbright Philippines. If qualified, you will work as a Filipino-language teaching assistant at a U.S. university within one academic year (nine months).
What is the Purpose of the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program?
The Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program was established in order to strengthen foreign language instruction at U.S. colleges and universities, hence, in return, it will provide foreign teachers the opportunity to heighten their English language proficiency, improve their teaching skills, and expand their knowledge of the culture and customs of the United States.

Who may Apply for the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program?
In order to be considered for the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program, prospective applicants must be able to possess the following qualifications:
- be a Filipino citizen;
- be a teacher of English, or in training to become a teacher of English, based outside of Metro Manila;
- be residing in the Philippines throughout the nomination and selection process;
- possess the equivalent of a U.S. Bachelor’s degree with a good academic record; Master’s degrees are highly desirable at many institutions;
- be fluent in English. With a score of no less than 90 (iBT) on the TOEFL is required;
- be able to demonstrate maturity, dependability, integrity and professionalism;
- be energetic, early career educators capable of succeeding in the dual role of being a teaching assistant and a student; and
- return to the Philippines upon completion of the nine-month program.
What are the Necessary Documentary Requirements for Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program?

Upon knowing that you qualified for the Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program, applicants may now prepare the following documents as set out by Fulbright Philippines:
- completed online application at https://apply.iie.org/flta2025;
- official or certified transcript of records from all colleges/universities attended;
- certified true copy of diploma (not original);
- three letters of reference (forms are found on the online application);
- letter of institutional support;
- supplemental forms;
- copy of passport; and
- TOEFL or IELTS score report (if available).
