The Iloilo City Government or Iloilo City, the 1st class highly urbanized city in the Western Visayas region of the Philippines, situated on the southeastern coast of the island of Panay, is now accepting applications for Uswag Scholarship Program under the Iloilo City’s W.H.E.E.L.S. roadmap (Welfare, Health, Environment, Education, Livelihood, Sustainability) under Education.
Beforehand, the below mentioned qualifications must be met by the applicants.
First, the applicant must be a resident of Iloilo City and essentially possesses a good moral character.
The household total gross income of his or her family must not exceed P220,000 per school year for the last two years.
Iloilo City Government noted that both parents or guardians must be residents of Iloilo City for at least 2 years.
The applicants must also be graduate from any public or recognized private senior high school in Iloilo City, or currently enrolled in a college or university accredited by CHED in Iloilo City, with a minimum grade of 80% in all subjects.
Further, he or she must achieve a final equivalent rating of 80% or above in the competitive examination conducted by the commission.
Iloilo City Government reiterated that scholars are allowed to any enrollment in a Bachelor's or 4 year degree course in any college or university in Iloilo City recognized or accredited by CHED (excluding courses at Iloilo City Community College).
Under the scholarship program, qualified scholars will be able to receive P5,000 cash assistance per semester.
Furthermore, to incite the Uswag scholars to strive more with excellence, the City Mayor gives out cash incentive for those who will graduate with Latin honors.
