The Western Philippines University, a state higher education institution situated at Aborlan, Palawan, is delighted to announce that they will be providing free accommodation in the Western Philippines University dormitory located in the main campus.
Beforehand, to trace back, the Western Philippines University started as the Aborlan Farm Settlement School for the Tagbanuas way back in 1910.
The modification continued as later on it became the Aborlan Agricultural High School in 1928.
Afterward, it became the Palawan Regional Agricultural School in 1960.
Until then it was renamed as Palawan National School in 1962 and became the Palawan National Agricultural College in 1963.
Once again, its name was changed to State Polytechnic College of Palawan in 1995 through the virtue of Republic Act 8012.
In 2004, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ratified Republic Act 9260 finally giving its current name Western Philippines University.
Hence, for all the interested students who ranked in the top ten of their grade 12 graduating class, the Western Philippines University is currently offering a free dormitory privelege.
According to the announcement, the initiative will be up for grabs for the first one-hundred (100) students to enroll for school year 2024-2025.
To be able to apply or claim this wonderful benefit, applicants are advised to submit a certified list of their batch's top ten students to the
Office of the Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) Scholarship Section as soon as possible.
The Western Philippines University noted that the list to be provided must include each student's name and General Weighted Average (GWA).
The announcement further indicated that this document must be obtained from their principal or head teacher.
