The Manila Electric Company, or simply Meralco, has continue to provide quality and reliable electricity service to their customers, hence, its is also offering a scholarship program for interested applicants titled Women Technician Scholarship Program.
To recap, the Women Technician Scholarship Program was also carried out last year where it welcomed 12 new scholars empowering aspiring young women to pursue careers as skilled electrical technicians
Now, the Women Technician Scholarship Program will be managed by Meralco, in a collaborative effort with One Meralco Foundation, and Don Bosco College-Canlubang.
The Women Technician Scholarship Program shall cover tuition and allowances of the students where they will undergo the Technical Vocational Education Training Program for the dual NC II Program on Electrical Installation and Maintenance and Mechatronics.
The Women Technician Scholarship Program shall give scholars the opportunity to join the Meralco workforce afterwards.
The Women Technician Scholarship Program was created in order to provide education and financial support to deserving students through classroom training and work immersion which will be conducted within 12 months.
Additionally, the Women Technician Scholarship Program is under the initiative of Meralco's diversity, equity, and inclusion program called #MBrace.
The latter program aims to promote a gender-balanced workplace not only by growing the number of women representation but also, more importantly, by empowering women in realizing their fullest potential.
By 2030, through the Women Technician Scholarship Program, Meralco hopes to eventually increase the ratio of women in the company to 40 percent.
Thus, interested applicants for the Women Technician Scholarship Program has some eligibility criteria to be met in order to qualify for the scheme which is:
- applicants must have completed senior high school, alternative learning system (ALS), or graduated from the 4-year old high school curriculum.
Upon knowing that you qualified for the Women Technician Scholarship Program, interested students are advised to submit their applications to the Admission Office of Don Bosco College-Canlubang.
