Ni hao! Have you ever considered studying in China A.K.A the "Factory of the World?" As indicated in the ASEAN University Network, the ASEAN-China Young Leaders Scholarship (ACYLS) program, which was established in 2019 by the People's Republic of China and ASEAN, offers exceptional and one-of-a-kind chances for ASEAN professionals and future leaders to advance their knowledge, broaden their horizons, sharpen their professional skills, boost their competitiveness, and enrich their life experiences while they are in China.
Interestingly, the ACYLS program is now open for applications. The scholarship will offfer full scholarships for ASEAN nationals to pursue Master’s degree (2-3 academic years) and Doctoral degree (3-4 academic years).
Who can apply for the scholarship?
As per the ASEAN University Network announcement, interested applicants of ACYLS must be able to meet the following criteria:
a. Citizen of an ASEAN Member State (Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam);
b. In sound physical and mental health;
c. Proficient in English (i.e., must possess an IELTS score of at least 6.0 or a TOEFL score of at least 80 points);
d. Holder of an undergraduate degree and under the age of 45 if applying for a master’s degree;
e. Holder of a graduate/master’s degree and under the age of 45 if applying for a doctoral degree;
f. Having at least one-year work experience within government agencies, public or private institutions, universities, think-tanks or similar social agencies, and preferably has experience in the following:
-Work related to foreign and international affairs, especially ASEAN and China-ASEAN affairs;
-Work or study in the PRC;
-Academic work on China or ASEAN-related affairs;
g. Not a concurrent awardee of a Chinese government scholarship;
h. Meets other admission requirements of the Chinese universities to which the applicant has applied.
What are the benefits under the scholarship?
Accepted scholars shall received a full scholarship covering all program-related expenses including tuition waiver and other school fees, accommodation, round-trip international air fare, comprehensive medical insurance and stipends (4,000 RMB- P31,600 per month for Master's students and 5,000 RMB- P39,500 for Doctoral students).
