In a previous announcement, it was reported that the Department of Education (DepEd) ordered to have the public schools’ Semestral Break on October 21st, 2019; this was then followed by the order to have the Christmas Break on December 15th, 2019.

Of course, this was according to the duly scheduled Calendar of Activities from DepEd. Most often, this calendar is followed strictly by participating schools to avoid mishaps and problems with the Education Department.
DepEd Christmas Break this 2019
If you would look at the regular calendar you would see that December 15 falls on a Sunday. Hence, making the last day of classes December 13th, 2019 – which is a Friday.

This is official, in fact, many schools have already been preparing for this. As per the DepEd Order No. 007 Series of 2019, the DepEd Christmas break this 2019 is to start on December 15 up until January 5th of next year (2020).
NOTE: All DepEd-covered schools are the ones to follow this rule. Private schools have their own schedule; it is going to be their discretion whether or not they’ll be following the DepEd’s school calendar. So long as they are in for the minimum number of class days, it’s going to be up to the management of the schools.
So would the last day of classes be December 15th?
Technically, no. Since December 15 would fall on a Sunday, it can be considered that the last day of classes for public schools would be on December 13th, 2019. The DepEd Christmas break this 2019 would fall and start on December 13, 2019.

So if your child is studying in a public school, do note that the last day of classes would be on December 13, 2019. Although it clearly states that the official start of the DepEd Christmas break this 2019 is on the 15th, it’s a Sunday so it’s technically the Friday of that week (13th of December).
