Are you the one the Department of Health (DOH) is looking for? Currently, the DOH is seeking qualified candidates to join their 2-year fellowship program.
The fellowship program is called Field Epidemiology Training Program (FETP), where its objective is to produce Epidemiologist or 'Disease Detectives' using a learning by doing approach.
In a glimpse, the Field Epidemiology Training Program was created in 1987 by the DOH in collaborative effort with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) of the United States of America.
To recap, it was presently accredited by the Training Programs for Epidemiology and Public Health Interventions Network (TEPHINET), the global network of FETPs.
TEPHINET's accreditation shall make sure that the program subjects to quality standards and provides guidance on training.
Furthermore, it affirms its commitment to global standards and allowing graduates to be acknowledged worldwide.
While the Training Programs for Epidemiology and Public Health is being conducted, fellows are entitled to the following comprehensive privileges:
- world class training and hands-on experience in applied epidemiology;
- Php 10,000 monthly stipend;
- Php 5,000 one-time book allowance;
- domestic travel expenses for fieldwork;
- international travel expenses for conference and workshops; and
- fully-funded epidemiologic investigations and opportunity to publish in journals;
- use of equipment such as desktops, or laptops, printers, and other supplies; and
- access to reference materials at the EB library such as books, e-books, and journal subscriptions.
Before that, interested fellows for Training Programs for Epidemiology and Public Health must include the following:
- physicians, nurses, medical technologists, and other allied health professionals;
- permanent government position for at least two years;
- willing to be deployed in austere environments for fieldwork; and
- willing to provide four years of return service to the sending agency.
