The Italian government has launched the "Residenzialita in Montagna 2024” program in June which directly translates to" Residency in the Mountains 2024".
According to a published article, the Residency in the Mountains 2024 program aims to attract people to live in the rural countryside of Italy.
As a matter of fact, Italy allocated a total of 2.8 million euros or $3million equivalent to Php 176 million for the
Residency in the Mountains 2024 program.
Interested applicants for Residency in the Mountains 2024 program will have the chance to receive a financial incentives of 10,000 euros- 30,000 euros or $10,720- $32,161 (Php 628,000- Php 1.8 million) to cover at least 50 percent of expenses in the purchase and renovation of the house.
As stated in its website, “the purpose of the intervention is to favor and encourage the repopulation and socio-economic revitalization of mountain areas, acting in contrast to the marginalization of these areas."
Participants may opt to choose among the 76 towns in the Tuscany region. The deadline of application is set on July 27, 2024.
However, those who will buy a property in Tuscany must obliged to be its permanent resident. Once registered as a resident of an Italian town, participants will no longer be able to register as a resident of another town.
The Residency in the Mountains 2024 program is open to Italian citizens, European Union (EU) citizens, and non-EU citizens who have long-term residency not lower than ten (10) years.
So, what is it for you living in Tuscany, Italy? Well, aside from the enticing financial incentive, you will be able to experience its historical art and architecture, colorful history, and authentic Italian food and wine.

The Residency in the Mountains 2024 program also intends to develop the socio-economic aspects of its rural areas.
A study conducted in 2016 showed that 2,500 towns in Italy undergo a drastic decrease in population and expected to not survive after 25 years.
