GSIS National Art Competition 2022 – Everything you need to Know

The GSIS National Art Competition is an annual competition pledged by the GSIS and the Art Association of the Philippines (AAP), the umbrella organization of art groups in the country which was first launched in 2004, now on its 17th year. 

This year, once again, GSIS is calling the attention of Filipino Artists aged 18 years and above to join the said competition. Exciting cash prizes ranging from P25, 000. 00 to P300, 000. 00 are awaiting the deserving winners. 

All applicants who are interested must take note of the mechanics, rules and regulations to avoid disqualification from the competition. Participants may submit one entry per category. No participation fee is required. 

What are the categories of the competition?

1. Representational

Dimensions: 3 feet by 4 feet in horizontal/landscape orientation only (excluding frame) 

Theme: “Pagsulong at Pag-asa sa Bagong Normal” 

 2. Non-Representational (Abstract)

Dimensions: 4 feet by 3 feet in vertical/portrait orientation only (excluding frame) 

Theme: Open Theme 

 3. Outdoor/Free Standing Sculpture

Dimensions: 

• Height: Minimum of 3ft. And maximum of 10ft. 
• Base: Minimum of 1 foot (to stand on its own) 
• Weight: Minimum of 20 kilos and maximum of 80 kilos in vertical orientation only 

Theme: Open Theme 

What are the entry requirements?

During submission, participating artists must submit the following along with every entry: 

• Completely filled-out, signed, and notarized official entry form. 
• Two (2) 2×2 colored ID picture of the artist. 
• Photocopy of one (1) valid ID (for age verification) 
• 5”x7” colored photo of the artwork with the following information written at the back

1. Artist’s name 
2. Address 
3. Contact number 
4. Title of the artwork, medium, size, year, and prize (if the artwork is for sale) 

When is the physical submission of actual artwork?

• May 2 to May 7, 2022 (8:30am to 4:00pm)

Note: GSIS will only accept entries from artists and his/her representative (including couriers and mail forwarders). 

For the acceptance of entries in GSIS-Pasay, the priority schedule is as follows: 

Note: Guards and museum personnel will ask for a valid ID indicating complete name before allowing entry to the GSIS Gym/Garden. 

•  Entries must be submitted to the GSIS Main Office, Financial Center, Reclamation Area, Pasay City (CCP Complex- JW Diokno Blvd.) Within May 2 to May 7, 2022 (8:30am-4:00pm) Entries submitted before or after the given date will not be accepted and disqualified. 

How will the artworks be judged?

• GSIS shall have the sole prerogative to select the Board of Judges. 
• The decision of the Board of Judges SHALL BE FINAL. Judges may decide not to award prizes to any entry that does not meet certain artistic and competition requirements. 
• The GSIS has the right to check and verify randomly selected entries. Issues on copyright infringement will be seriously considered and deliberated for the declared finalists. Complaints must be submitted to GSIS within 14 calendar days from the date of announcement of finalists. Likewise, the GSIS may send GSIS Museum staff to conduct an on-the-spot ocular visit in the artist’s studio or home. The GSIS has the right to automatically disqualify the artist if the entry does not meet the prescribe guidelines.
