For those incoming grade 7 and 8 students who excel in sports, the National Academy of Sports (NAS), a government-run sports academy managed by the Philippine government located in New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac, is still accepting applications for its scholarship program for the school year 2024-2025 which aims to help student-athletes receive full scholarship and experience world-class trainings.
Scholars of NAS will receive an enticing scholarship package which shall include full tuition and miscellaneous fees, meal and accommodations, loan of learning materials such as books and e-books, monthly stipend, sports uniform and equipment, and access to all sports facilities (subject to the approval of BCDA).
NAS will also provide for health, emergency, and rehabilitation support systems (insurance, clinics, etc.), covered expenses for participation in NAS recognized local and international trainings and competitions to include transportation, accommodation, insurance, meals, allowance, registration fees, and other travel requirements needed provided that there are available funds.
Both grade 7 and 8 applicants must be a natural-born Filipino citizen, have a general weighted average of at least 80%, show evidence of potential in their particular sport and being in good health and physical fitness to undergo a rigorous athletic program.
They must also be under the indicated NAS focus sports such as Aquatics (Swimming), Athletics (Running and Jumping), Badminton, Gymnastics (Rhythmic), Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo (Poomsae and Kyorugi), Weightlifting.
Specifically, for incoming grade 7 applicant, he or she must be currently enrolled as a grade 6 student and not be older than 14 years old.
Meanwhile, for incoming grade 8 student, he or she must be currently enrolled as grade 7 or a graduate of elementary school at the time of application and not be older than 15 years old.
