In 1974, Toyota Foundation was established, two years later, the International Grant Program began. Hence, Toyota Foundation has announced the opening of IGP this fiscal year 2024 titled Cultivating Empathy Through Learning from Our Neighbors: Practitioners' Exchange on Common Issues in Asia.
This grant aims to deepen the mutual understanding and knowledge-sharing among people in East Asia, Southeast Asia, and South Asia.
Also, the scholarship targets scholars to find solutions to shared issues such as surveying and analyzing circumstances in the participating countries, achieve new perspectives, and broaden the potential of future generations.
Participating countries include Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, South Korea, and Mongolia in East Asia.
Meanwhile, in Southeast Asia, countries covered are Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam.
Further, South Asia countries such as Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka are also listed.
The grant allocation has a total amount of 70 million yen (Php 25,900,000). Each grant shall be based on the duration of the project, therefore, for a one-year project, allocation shall be JPY 5,000,000 (Php 1,850,000) while for a two-year project, the allocation will be a whopping JPY 10,000,000 (Php 3,700,000).
Applications will be web-based and should be only accomplished on the Toyota Foundation's website. The application timeline will start from April 1 to June 1, 2024, at 11:59 p.m., Japan Standard Time.
Final decisions on the awarding of grants will be conducted by the Toyota Foundation Board of Directors during a meeting which shall be held in late September 2024, as indicated on the deliberations of responsible Selection Committee consisting of external experts.
