2023 Licensure Examination for Professional Teachers (LEPT): Schedule, Requirements and Application Procedure

Everyone who wants to become a licensed professional teacher must pass the Licensure Examination for Teachers. The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) oversees LET, which is held twice a year, most likely in March and September.

Who can take the LEPT?

As per R.A. NO. 7836 and its amendment REPUBLIC ACT NO. 9293., applicants must:

1. be a citizen of the Philippines or an alien whose country has reciprocity with the Philippines in the practice of the teaching profession;
2. be at least eighteen (18) years of age;
3. be in good health and of good reputation with high moral values;
4. not been convicted by final judgment by a court for an offense involving moral turpitude;
5. be a graduate of a school, college or university recognized by the government and possesses the minimum educational qualifications, as follows:

• For teachers in preschool, a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education (BECED) or its equivalent;
• For teachers in the elementary grades, a bachelor’s degree in elementary education (BSEED) or its equivalent;
• For teachers in the secondary grades, a bachelor’s degree in education or its equivalent with a major and minor, or a bachelor degree in arts and sciences with at least eighteen (18) units in professional education; and
• For teachers of vocational and two-year technical courses, a bachelor’s degree in the field of specialization or its equivalent, with at least eighteen (18) units in professional education.”

1. Original and Photocopy of Transcript of Records (TOR) with:

Special Order (SO)
date of graduation
seal of the school
scanned picture
remarks “For Board Examination Purposes Only” (CHED recognition and permit to operate for graduates of new schools / programs)
