The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is an agency tasked to monitor the civil service and make sure that the integrity of government actions and processes are being practiced.
Hence, in case you missed the Announcement No. 11 of CSC, the Civil Service Exam-Pen and Paper Test’s (CSE-PPT) first batch schedule is fast approaching (application period happened on December 22, 2022- January 25, 2023) and will be administered on March 26, 2023.
Meanwhile, the second batch will be conducted on August 23, 2023 which shall have its application period from May 15, 2023 to June 14, 2023.
Note that unrefunded examinees of canceled March 15, 2020 who had a designated application date from December 14, 2022 to December 21, 2022 and decided not to claim their refund can also take the March 26, 2023 examination instead.

CSC said that applicants must communicate/coordinate with the CSC Regional Office (CSC RO), or CSC Field Office (CSC FO), where they intend to take the examination regarding the available exam slots. Note: The gates of the venue will open from 6 A.M. to 7:30 A.M. Examinees who will arrive later than 7:30 A.M. won’t be allowed to enter the venue and take the exam.
Please abide with the dress code. Examinees who wear short pants, sleeveless shirts/blouses, and slippers may be denied entry to the venue.
WHAT TO BRING
Examinees shall bring with them the following:
- Application Receipt with CSC Official Receipt (if available).
- Printed copy of your Notice of School Assignment (if applicable)
- Black ballpen/s
- Water/preferred beverages placed in a clear bottle/container (upon inspection of room examiner/proctor)
- Original and photocopy of your I.D. card (ideally the same one you presented on your application as they will accept it whether expired or not)
- Examination fee: P500
If your ID, does not show your birth date, you are required to bring the original copy of your Birth Certificate printed on Security Paper and issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (formerly NSO).
If you lost or forgotten the initial ID you presented, you can bring any of the VALID IDs below:
GSIS ID (UMID)
BIR ID (ATM type or TIN card type with picture)
Police Clearance or Police Certificate
Company or Office ID
Student ID (validated for current school year/semester/trimester)
Philhealth ID (showing your Philhealth number, clear picture, full name, and signature)
Note: STRICTLY NO I.D., NO EXAMINATION policy.
WHAT TO DO AND NOT DO
In the examination venue, you’ll be given three documents to accomplish: Picture-seat plan, Examinee attendance, Answer sheet, which the proctor or room examiner shall provide instructions on how you can accomplished them.
- Do not use a sign pen, fountain pen, friction pen, or pens with colors other than black.
- Shade the circles neatly and completely. You can change the answer once for each test item. To change your answer, put an “X” mark over the initial answer and shade the new and final answer.
- Do not use a pen eraser, correction tape, correction pen, or correction fluid.
- Do not make any stray or unnecessary marks on the test papers.
- Do not stand to submit your test papers when you are done. The proctor or room examiner will simultaneously collect all the answer sheets and test booklets from all examinees after the allotted time. Finally, the proctor/room examiner will tell you when it’s time to leave the room.
EXAM ITEMS/TIME/PASSING GRADE
According to CSC, the number of exam items/ time/ passing grade shall be the following:
- Professional level: 170 items in 3 hours and 10 minutes
- Sub-Professional level: 165 items in 2 hours and 40 minutes
The examinee shall obtain an 80.00% general rating to pass the examination.
TARGET RELEASE OF TEST RESULTS
According to CSC, the List of Passers shall be uploaded/posted at the CSC Website www.csc.qov.ph within 60 days after the examination. The CSC advised applicants to come to the examination center one hour before the test.
Note: Only the List of Passers posted on the CSC Website is official. Examinees can generate their examination rating through OCSERGS or the Online Civil Service Examination Result Generation System, which can also be accessed through the CSC Website approximately 15 days after the maximum date of posting of the List of Passers, or as indicated in the corresponding issuance/advisory.
RESULTING CIVIL SERVICE ELIGIBILITY
The civil service eligibility resulting from passing the CSE (Professional) shall be called Career Service Professional Eligibility. It is a second level eligibility appropriate for first level (clerical) positions, and second level (technical) positions in the government, including executive/managerial positions in the second level, which do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by special/other laws.
The civil service eligibility resulting from passing the CSE (SubProfessional) shall be called Career Service SubProfessional Eligibility. It is a first level eligibility appropriate only for first level (clerical) positions in the government which do not involve practice of profession and are not covered by special/other laws.
