The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) is a government agency tasked to administrate and manage the country’s correctional facilities including the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa City- the country’s largest correctional facility, along with other facilities such as the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, Leyte Regional Prison (LRP), Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte, San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City, and the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Occidental Mindoro.
Thus, the BuCor has recently announced the commencement of its Recruitment Cycle 2023 (RC2023), which marks the start of the agency’s nationwide acceptance of applications from interested and qualified individuals who are willing to join the agency’s workforce.
What are the qualifications?
Interested applicants must be able to meet the qualifications indicated in the recruitment notice of BuCor:
1.A Citizen of the Republic of the Philippines;
2.A Person of good moral character;
3 Must have passed the psychiatric/psychological, drug and physical test for the purpose of determining his/her physical and mental health;
4.Must possess a baccalaureate degree from a recognized learning institution;
5.Must possess any of the following eligibilities:
Civil Service Eligibility– Professional Level
- RA 1080 (Bar or Board Examination)
- P.D. 907 (College Honor Graduate Eligibility)
- Penology Officer Eligibility
- Police Officer Eligibility (July 1998 onwards)
6.Must not have been dishonorably discharged or dismissed for cause from previous employment;
7.Must not have been convicted by final judgement of an offense or crime involving moral turpitude;
8.Must be at least one meter and fifty-seven centimeters (1.57m.) in height for male, and one meter and fifty-two centimeters (1.52m.) for female: Provided, that a waiver for height and age requirement/s may be granted to applicants belonging to the cultural communities; and
9.Must not be less than twenty-one (21) nor more than forty (40) years of age.
Note: The age limit for applicants for Corrections Officer 1 as per R. A. 10575 or “The Bureau of Corrections Act of 2013” is forty (40) years old. However, those above thirty-six (36) years of age will have to sign a waiver agreeing that they may not be able to qualify for the full retirement benefits afforded to a uniformed officer of BuCor.
What is the starting monthly salary?
Corrections Officer 1 shall received a starting monthly salary of P29, 668.
