The Commission on Higher Education (CHED), responsible for the regulation and governance of all higher education institutions and post-secondary educational programs in the Philippines, is pleased to announce that the CHED Merit Scholarship Programs (CMSP) for academic year 2024-2025 is now accepting applications.
Applications for CHED Merit Scholarship Program shall be open until July 15, 2024, and applications must be submitted to the concerned CHED Regional Office (CHEDRO) via the online modality.
CHED ensures that only those qualified and deserving students will receive the CHED Merit Scholarship Program, that is why they adhere that the following eligibility criteria must be met by prospective incoming first year college applicants.
- Filipino Citizen
- With General Weighted Average (GWA) requirements of 93%-95% for Half Scholarship and 96% and above for Full Scholarship
- Not be a recipient of any government-funded financial assistance program
- Qualified applicants with privately funded scholarship grant covering only tuition fees, he/she must pass the entry level requirement of the private higher education institution
- Must have a combined annual gross income of parents not to exceed Php400,000
- Must enroll or be enrolled in recognized identified undergraduate priority programs
Hence, upon knowing that you are qualified for the CHED Merit Scholarship Program, you are advised to prepare the bulleted documentary requirements to proceed with your application.
- Birth certificate issued by the Philippines Statistics Authority
- Certificate of good moral character from the last school attended
- Notice of admission from the Higher Education Institutions (HEI) with collegiate degree offerings
- Proof that the student applicant belonged to special group/s
- Proof that the parent/legal guardian of applicant are solo parent
- For senior high school students- duly certified true copy of grades for grade 11 first and second semester and first semester for grade 12
- For senior high school graduates- form 138
- Proof of Income (latest ITR of parents or guardian if employed
- Certificate of tax exemption from the BIR
- Certificate of indigence from their barangay
- Certificate/case study from DSWD or
- Latest copy of contract or proof of income for children of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) and seafarers
Qualified scholars under the CHED Merit Scholarship Program shall receive a comprehensive package depending on the institutions that they will enroll to, whether private universities or colleges or state universities.
It also depends on whether they qualified for full or half scholarships but a scholar may be entitled to a comprehensive package of up to Php120,000 which include tuition and other school fees of P40,000, stipend of P70,000 and book/connectivity allowance of P10,000.
