In preparation for its eventual rollout, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is now testing an app that can be used for all government transactions.
The government will develop a single platform for all government services, according to DICT Assistant Secretary Edwin Ligot, who was speaking during PTV's public briefing.
It is being tested right now. The government’s super app is undergoing ‘Beta’ testing now,” Ligot said.
Ligot stated that the DICT is collaborating with the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) to map out various agencies' processes in order to compile them into a single system.
Last March, the House of Representatives approved the HB House Bill (HB) No. 7327 “An Act institutionalizing the transition of the government to E-Governance in the digital age, creating for the purpose the Philippine Infostructure Management Corp. and appropriating funds therefor”
“Susunod na session po namin ay sa Senado at maipasa itong batas na ito para ma-sustain po lahat ng initiative ng DICT for the digitalization,” DICT Assistant Secretary Edwin Ligot said.
Early in April, in order to make doing business in the country easier, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has ordered the development of a single operating system for all government operations.
Currently, the agency is giving nationwide broadband and free WiFi priority implementation in order to improve app access and comprehension.
"Para po mabigyan ng internet access ang ating mga kababayan para din po nila ma-realize yung super app na ila-launch or ma-test din nila yung super app bago natin ma-formalize,” he stated.
“Madaling gumawa ng sistema, madaling gumawa ng connectivity, but yung mindset kung paano gamitin yung sistema is another story,” he added.
The public was reassured by the DICT that layers of protection are being implemented to further secure the personal information of Filipinos.
The egov super app will offer a wide range of government services and information to citizens in a single platform. It is designed to streamline and simplify the process of accessing government services, allowing citizens to easily interact with different government agencies and departments.
An egov super app may include services such as paying taxes, applying for permits and licenses, registering for elections, accessing public records, and tracking the status of government requests.
The goal of an egov super app is to provide citizens with a convenient and efficient way to access government services, reducing the need for physical visits to government offices and improving the overall citizen experience.
