Government employees will begin receiving their mid-year bonuses starting today, May 15, 2023, according to a statement from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
Amenah F. Pangandaman, the budget secretary, stated in a statement on Sunday, May 14, that as of May 15, 2023, the mid-year bonus is equal to one month's basic pay.
"I am happy to announce that our civil servants will be receiving their mid-year bonus this year, as provided in the agency-specific allocation under the 2023 General Appropriations Act or GAA,” Pangandaman said.
"So, we are reminding all government agencies and offices to ensure the timely release of bonuses to their employees or as stipulated in our existing rules and regulations,” she added.
The eligible staff must have worked for at least four months between July 1, 2022, and May 15, 2023 in order to be eligible for the mid-year bonus.
Additionally, the employee must still be employed by the government and have a performance rating of at least satisfactory for either the most recent rating period or the corresponding performance assessment period.
All civilian jobs in the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial departments, whether regular, casual, appointive or elective, full-time or part-time, will receive the mid-year bonus.
State universities and colleges, government-owned or -controlled corporations, constitutional commissions, other constitutional offices, and local governments are also included.
Military members of the Philippine Armed Forces under the Department of National Defense and uniformed members of the Philippine National Police are also eligible employees who can receive the mid-year bonus.
These agencies shall include the Philippine Public Safety College, Bureau of Fire Protection, and Bureau of Jail Management and Penology of the Department of Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Corrections of the Department of Justice, Philippine Coast Guard of the Department of Transportation, and National Mapping and Resource Information Authority of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
In the meantime, the DBM has made it clear that the governing boards of the individual GOCCs will decide whether to pay mid-year incentives to employees of those corporations.
The DBM also noted that each sanggunian must decide whether to grant the mid-year bonus to employees of the provinces, cities, municipalities, and barangays.
