Attention GSIS pensioners! Finally, you have come to the most exciting part, because beginning tomorrow, which is December 6, up to P10,000 in cash will be given to more than 328,000 eligible pensioners of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) as a Christmas present.
What is GSIS Cash Gift?
The GSIS cash gift is equal to a pensioner’s monthly benefit (maximum of P10,000) specifically for seniors and those with disabilities. GSIS is set to distribute P3.35 billion in total.
“We know that pensioners are anticipating the Christmas cash gift and this will make their Christmas merry,” GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso said.
“So starting Dec. 6, the cash gift would have been credited to their e-card and they [pensioners] can withdraw [from ATMs],” Veloso added.
How will the cash gift be distributed?
According to the fund’s website, pension payouts from the GSIS may be taken from any Bancnet, Megalink, or Expressnet ATMs worldwide.
Who are eligible to receive the cash gift?
Old-age and disability pensioners who are receiving their regular monthly pensions and are alive as of November 30, 2022 are eligible to receive the Christmas cash present.
These include members who left the service between 2006 and 2022 before turning 60 and began receiving their regular monthly pensions in 2018, as well as those who have been regular pensioners for at least five (5) years. Pensioners who took advantage of the five-year lump sum benefit and resumed receiving their regular monthly pensions after December 31, 2021, are also eligible to avail the cash gift.
Old-age and disability pensioners whose status has been suspended owing to failure to comply with the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR) will receive the cash gift after their status has been reinstated.
Who are not eligible to receive the cash gift?
The following pensioners are not eligible to receive the cash gift: survivorship and dependent pensioners, pensioners who retired under Republic Act 7699 (Portability Law), pensioners who received pro-rata pension, and pensioners who received the five-year lump sum but will receive their regular monthly pension after December 31, 2022.
New retirees from 2018 to 2022 who availed of the 18-month cash payment of their basic monthly pension and immediate pension under RA 8291 will only receive their cash gift five years after their retirement.
