The infamous Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) had struck us in the worst ways imaginable. It killed our economy buy shutting everything down; and disabled a lot of people, especially those in the lower-hand of life.
To help people who look to registering their motor vehicles, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) online portal is now open. As per the agency, motorists and vehicle owners would now be able to pay for their car registration renewal online.

In addition to that, the agency announced that the portal can easily be accessed online; people do not need to go elsewhere any longer! The best part? It operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!
Today, applying for a driver’s license, registering a car or paying fees is now possible online after LTO launched its new website portal.lto.gov.ph … The portal provides fast and 24/7 access to the agency’s services via computer, tablet or smartphone. How to use the LTO online portal?
As per the LTO, using the portal is easy, users need only to register as "a client" in the website in order to access it. From there, they have the option to perform several services and processes such as paying for their registration, paying fees for online driver's licenses, etc.
All citizens of the country need to do is to register as client in the public portal, create and appointment at their choice of LTO office, pay their fees online for their Driver’s License, car registration, motor vehicle inspection service, and even pay their fines."
Basically, the steps are outlined like so:
- The individual needs to access the LTMS or the LTO online portal
- After doing so, they would now be able to access the site

Individuals and companies
Companies and individual people are able to use this service — it is not only for specific individuals or for companies; it can be used by both!

The LTO is proud of the portal because as per them, it can complete a total of one (1) million transactions per day. Talk about the efficiency that our country needs!
Another great feature that the online portal or the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) has is security; the security in which it has an Automated Biometric Identification System (AIBS).
Basically, what this means is that the system is able to identify both face and fingerprint identification; what this does is it prevents applications to be doubled; also useful against false identification.
Benefits of the online portal
There are a lot of benefits to the online portal. Especially in our situation now, this online or virtual thing would deem to be the most useful; here are some of the advantages that it promises:

- Easier time in doing the processes (application, payment, etc.)
- Lessen and shorten the long infamous lines in LTO branches — especially the most-crowded ones
- Faster payment, application, and other processes
- Keeps everyone safe from the infamous COVID-19
Even if it's literally a work still in progress, the progress we're seeing from it is already peaceful. Many people are trying to work with it during these dire times and it's good enough that the LTO is doing whatever it can to help.
What do you think about the LTO online portal for payments, as well as other types of processes? Could we be able to adapt to this new normal that the LTO wants us to? If the LTMS proves to be an effective and efficient way, then there should be no problems with that and we, the Filipino people, would even be happier with it.
