It's only a matter of time now for kidney patients as the Philippines Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) allowed a hike for its hemodialysis package rate.
The hemodialysis package rate raise will soon be beneficial for kidney patients after PhilHealth imposed a P4,000 hemodialysis package rate per session from the current P2,600.
According to ABS-CBN News' published article, the Department of Health (DOH) stated that PhilHealth will be on the process of crafting a detailed circular and operationalization would be finalized for the new hemodialysis package rate.
The measure shall be made in order to ensure that the new hemodialysis package rate can already be claimed among Filipinos.
As per report, aside from the new hemodialysis package rate, there's also an explicit approval for catheter insertion and blood transfusion payments, both may be claimed separate from the main case rate for admission.
The agency also highlighted the importance of treating and preventing kidney diseases in the earliest manner accompanied by diabetes and hypertension which may eventually ends up in chronic kidney diseases.
Further, this initiative, the agency said, shall allow each Filipino closer to accessing the highest quality healthcare at the lowest cost.
The new hemodialysis package rate aligned with the second State of the Nation Address of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. where he reiterated that dialysis can be availed for free for the majority of Filipinos.
According to PNA, the respective board members tackled improvement on financial coverage for renal replacement therapy (RRT) during their meeting. These includes hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis.
It was noted that RRT covers options for dialysis that treat kidney failure but these treatments cannot fully cure. These options can only extend the lives of end-stage kidney failure patients.
On the same note, DOH is developing PuroKalusugan to enhance healthcare conducted in the community level.
On the other hand, PhilHealth is attempting to improve financial coverage for primary care using another iteration of the regular nationwide Konsulta package.
This shall aim to promote a higher capitation rate, giving incentives for early disease detection and prevention services.
