The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration, starting today, January 9, 2023 (Monday), will accept online application for the first time for its two (2) baccalaureate scholarship programs, Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) and Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP), for OFW dependents of active OWWA members for School Year 2023-2024.
What is Education for Development Scholarship Program?
The Education for Development Scholarship Program (EDSP) is a scholarship grant offered to qualified dependents of active OWWA members who intend to pursue a 4 to 5-year baccalaureate course in any preferred colleges or universities with financial assistance of Php60,000 per school year to cover tuition fees and other academic-related expenses until the completion of the 4-5 years baccalaureate course.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
Eligible beneficiaries are:
- Child of an active OWWA member; or
Sibling of a single or married but childless active OWWA member - Single
- Not more than 21 years old
- Grade 12 graduating student
- GWA of 80% or its equivalent
- Must submit academic of grades 9, 10, & 11 in ANY of the following official documentary form:
- Form 137;
Form 138; or
Transcript of records
What are the necessary documentary requirements?
The following includes the requirements which should be prepared and submitted once the scholarship applicant is officially informed that he/she passed the pre-qualifying process or examination.
- OFW Passport I.D.
- 2x2 ID pictures
- Birth Certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) / Local Civil Registrar (LCR)
- Form 137/ Form 138/ Transcript of Records (TOR)
- Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR) (For Single OFW whose dependent/applicant is the sibling)
- OFW Declaration of No Child Dependent (For Married OFW but childless)
What is Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program?
The Congressional Migrant Workers Scholarship Program (CMWSP) is a baccalaureate scholarship program mandated by RA 10022. Qualified applicants are entitled to Php60,000.00 worth of scholarship per school year until the completion of 4-5 years baccalaureate course in any college/universities within the Philippines. The program shall benefit deserving migrant workers and/or their immediate descendants who intend to pursue courses primarily in the field of science and technology as identified by DOST.
Who can apply for the scholarship?
Interested applicants must meet the following qualifications:
- Deserving Migrant Workers (active OFWs) who are not more than 45 years old
- Children of active OFWs who are below 21 years old
- GWA of 80% without failing grades or within 20% of graduating class for children of ofw and no failing grades
- If OFW: Annual Family gross income of $2,400.00 or P76,000.00
- The Alternative Learning System passers under the Continuing Education Program – Accreditation and Equivalency (A&E) with an average of at least 85%or its equivalent as certified the DepEd Accredited Schools.
What are the necessary documentary requirements?
Prepare the needed e-copies of required listed below.
- OFW Passport I.D.
- 2x2 ID pictures
- Birth Certificate authenticated by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) / Local Civil Registrar (LCR)
- Form 137/ Certified true copy of Form 138/ Transcript of Records (TOR)
- Any Proof of Family Income i.e. (Income Tax Return, Pay Slip, Overseas Employment Contract (OEC), and others as applicable
