There are tons of scholarships available for people who yearn to study in a good school—even in some schools abroad. One of which is the PhilFrance Scholarship. In this article, we will be discussing everything you need to know about the PhilFrance Scholarship, its requirements, qualifications, and the benefits it can give people who become part of its program.
What is the PhilFrance Scholarship?
PhilFrance Scholarship is a type of scholarship which will give students the opportunity to study abroad—specifically in France.
This particular scholarship is directed and offered to next generation Filipino leaders who were able to project good and powerful leadership, professional, and academic abilities.
Deadline of application
For students who wish to study in France for a graduate degree for the academic year 2019 to 2020, the deadline of application is on the 16th of March, 2020 at 12:00 Noon.
PhilFrance Scholarship requirements for application
- A one-page Curriculum Vitae (CV) with details on leadership, academic, and professional experience.
- Certified true copies of academic transcripts or Transcript of Records (ToR) or the University Level transcripts.
- Acceptance Letter or a proof of eligibility to degree-awarding graduate programs. These will be issued by a French Higher Education Institution (HEI) where an applicant has applied to.
- An essay that is no longer than 500 words which explains the reason for the want and need in studying in France and how the applicant’s degree can benefit the Philippines and its society.
- A copy of the program of study or study plan (your chosen program’s curriculum or academic calendar) for its duration
- Proof of financial resources (personal or household)
Qualifications for the PhilFrance Scholarship
- Filipino citizens who are residing in the Philippines at the time of application
- Graduates or graduating students of a Philippine higher education institution
- For applicants to Master's degree programs: final-year students or graduates of a Bachelor-level degree
What benefits can the PhilFrance scholarship give?
It will all boil down to what benefits are there in being part of the PhilFrance scholarship. Even if the scholarship is good, you will still look at what the factors and benefits are—it’s some sort of a make-or-break point, too
Selected candidates will be given the status of boursier du gouvernement français (French government scholar) which entitles them to the following benefits:
- A tuition fee subsidy for the entire duration of the Master's program
- For state-regulated public universities:
- Exemption from university registration fees texonération des frais d’inscription à l'université)
- For reference - University registration fees as of January 2020: €3 770 per academic year for Master's degrees
- Exemption from university registration fees texonération des frais d’inscription à l'université)
- For other French higher education institutions:
- Partial tuition fee subsidy (frais de formation/frais de scolarité), amounting to a maximum of €5 000 per academic year (non-negotiable), covering the duration of the Master's program
- This subsidy is not convertible to cash and it will be settled directly with the French higher education institution
- For state-regulated public universities:
- A monthly stipend of €700, regardless of the city of residence
- Includes a €700 installation allowance
- NB: Please note that the stipend may be suspended during internship periods (which are usually part of most graduate degree programs).
- A health care package composed of mandatory sécurité sociale (national social security coverage) and a mutuelle (supplementary insurance policy)
- Priority access to public student housing facilities (logement étudiant CROUS)
- One roundtrip flight from Manila to the French city of destination
- Exemption from French long-stay visa application fees
- NB: VFS (external visa service provider) fees which cost around P2000 are not covered
