The Phinma National Scholarship (PNS) is a prestigious scholarship program offered for the school year 2023-2024 by the Phinma Foundation.

Who can apply for the scholarship?

If you are interested, you must meet the following qualifications, you must:

be a Filipino citizen;

be enrolled in one of the partner schools;

  • Philippine Normal University Manila;
  • PHINMA University of Pangasinan;
  • Polytechnic University of the Philippines Sta. Mesa;
  • Technological University of the Philippines Manila;
  • University of the Philippines Diliman.

be in need of financial support to finish college studies;

show great interest in leadership development and nation building;

not have an immediate relative under the PNS program or PNS Alumni Association.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS PER SCHOOL:

From Philippine Normal University-Manila

FOR ENROLLED FIRST YEAR STUDENTS WHO INTEND TO MAJOR IN:

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Filipino
  • Sciences
  • Early Childhood
  • Information
  • Social Science
  • Technology

From PHINMA University of Pangasinan

FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN:

  1. BS in Civil Engineering
  2. BS in Electrical Engineering
  3. BS in Electronics Engineering
  4. BS in Accountancy
  5. Any Education course

From Polytechnic University of the Philippines-Sta. Mesa

FOR INCOMING 2ND YEAR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Accountancy
    (BSA)

From Technological University of the Philippines-Manila

FOR INCOMING 2ND YEAR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN:

  1. BS in Civil Engineering
  2. BS in Electrical Engineering
  3. BS in Electronics Engineering
  4. BS in Mechanical Engineering

From University of the Philippines-Diliman

FOR FIRST YEAR STUDENTS ENROLLED IN:

  1. BS in Civil Engineering
  2. BS in Electrical Engineering
  3. BS in Electronics Engineering
  4. BS in Industrial Engineering
  5. BS in Mechanical Engineering

What are the necessary documentary requirements?

For PNU Manila, UP Diliman, and UPang applicants:

  1. Clear copy of Transcript of Records from SHS, or complete copy of Gr 11 & 12 report cards

For PUP Sta. Mesa and TUP Manila applicants:

  1. Clear copy of 1st Year College Transcript of Records;
  2. Registration/Enrollment Form;
  3. Latest copy of the family breadwinner's Income Tax Return (ITR), or Certificate of Non-filing of ITR;
  4. At least 2 recommendation letters from any of the following:
  • PNS Alumni
  • Grade 12 class adviser
  • SHS principal
  • Community org leader
  • Previous employer if applicable

The recommendation letter must bear the following:

  1. Official logo of school/organization.

  2. Full name and address of school/organization.

  3. Date of writing

4.Enumerated answers to the following questions:

  • Who is the applicant?
  • How do you know them?
  • When and how did you observe the applicant's commendable skills and/or laudable behavior if any? Briefly narrate one specific incident.
  • PNS aims to produce leaders and nation-builders by providing the underserved yet exceptional youth not just with financial support but also with monthly leadership development activities. The program requires strong commitment from the scholars, and maintains high expectations of them even beyond graduation. Why do you think the applicant deserves this scholarship?
  1. Full name and signature of recommender.

  2. Position and contact details of the recommender.

Note: Each letter should NOT be more than 1 page, short bond paper size. Use Arial 11, black font only.

What are the benefits under the scholarship?

Scholars shall receive financial assistance and incentives including:

  1. Monthly allowance;
  2. Annual book allowance;
  3. Annual uniform/clothing allowance;
  4. Annual professional development allowance Graduation fee assistance;
  5. One-time board review assistance;
  6. Cash incentives for graduates with Latin honors Cash incentives for first-time board passers and placers;
  7. Mentorship opportunity with a professional;
  8. Opportunity to participate in leadership development
    activities like:

How to file your application?

As per PNS, to apply, simply fill out the application form and submit your requirements to the Office of Student Affairs. Remember to keep your proof of submission and bring it to your interview.
