The Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), through the Becas MAEC-AECID Scholarship Program, offers yearly scholarships to qualified Filipino civil servants who wish to pursue postgraduate studies (maximum of 11 months) in Spain.
1. MASTER
This modality offers the opportunity to pursue Master's Degree studies in Spain for 11 months, to civil servants, or personnel integrated in the Philippines, including the education and university system.
Who can apply for this scholarship?
- Must be a Filipino Citizen
- Must be a civil servants, or personnel integrated in the public sytem of their country and have the authorization of their superior officer responsible for granting leaves or absences.
- Must have knowledge of Spanish.
- Master's degree must be official, face-to-face, and of a maximum of 60 ECTS credits. In addition, it must be related to one of the lines of action in which the actions of Spanish Cooperation are framed according to the current master plan.
Duration of Scholarship: 11 months (From September 1, 2023- July 31, 2024)
2. MASTER TEACHING OF SPANISH
The purpose of this modality is to award scholarships to Filipino professors from universities or public educational institutions, to pursue a Master's degree in a Spanish University, related to the teaching of Spanish, as a foreign languange for 11 months.
Who can apply for this scholarship?
- Must be a Filipino Citizen
- Must be a professor at a university or public educational institutions in the Philippines, and have the authorization of their superior officer responsible for granting leaves or absences.
- Must have knowledge of Spanish.
- Master's degree must be official, face-to-face, and of a maximum of 60 ECTS credits. It must also be related to the teaching of Spanish, as a foreign languange.
Duration of Scholarship: 11 months (From September 1, 2023- July 31, 2024)
3. DIPLOMATIC SCHOOL OF SPAIN
The objective of this program is to grant scholarships to public employees for 9 months to take Interumiversity Master's Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations of the Diplomatic School of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union, and Cooperation of Spain.
Who can apply for this scholarship?
- Must be a Filipino Citizen
- Must be a civil servants, or personnel integrated in the public sytem of their country and have the authorization of their superior officer responsible for granting leaves or absences.
- Must have knowledge of Spanish.
Duration of Scholarship: 9 months (From October 1, 2023- June 30, 2024)
4. ASALE
The purpose of this program is to grant scholarships to support the stay in Spain while studying for the Master's Degree in Hispanic Lexicography and Linguistic Correction, subsequent internships associated with the Master's and the collaborative training stay in the Philippine Academy of the Spanish Languange.
Who can apply for this scholarship?
- Must be a Filipino Citizen
- Must hold a univerdity degree in Linguistics, Philology, Translation, Communications, or related subjects.
- Age no more than 45 years as of December 31, 2023.
Duration of Scholarship: 11 months (From January 1, 2024- December 1, 2025)
Benefits Under the Scholarships:
- A monthly payment of €2,500 (Php145,675) to be paid once the beneficiary has started his/her studies in Spain, and the remaining monthly payments of more or less €1,300 (Php75,751).
- Tuition Assistance including Administrative Fees up to €5,000 (Php291,350).
- Health care insurance in Spain and Accident insurance.

Note: While an acceptable level of proficiency in the Spanish language must be demonstrated in order to qualify for the program, some Spanish universities offer postgraduate programs in English as well. Admission into the Master’s/Doctorate course must be directly processed by the applicant with the chosen University in Spain.
