Looking for an opportunity to further your passion for art and at the same time take home a very enticing amount of cash prize? Here's 2023 GSIS National Art Competition! The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is conducting this contest annually and it's actually on its 18th year already making it the biggest and longest running art competition.
The aim of the program is to promote the talent and drive of Filipino artists and give them chances to gain recognition on the national and worldwide stages.
Who can join the contest?
Participants must be Filipino artists and be at least 18 years old (as of May 3, 2023).
Applicants are allowed to submit one artwork in each of the following categories: sculptural, nonrepresentational (or abstract), and representational. The contest's open theme this year allows artists the flexibility to conceptualize their pieces.
The entries must be unique, from 2023, and cannot have previously been displayed, altered, or given a prize.
Note: The Art Association of the Philippines' officers and artists who are helping with the competition are ineligible to participate.
When is the application period?
According to GSIS' website, submission period is based on priority schedule from May 2 to 6, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. only. Artists with surnames starting with A to F must submit their entries on May 2; G-L, May 3; M to Q, May 4; and R to Z, May 5. Group submission via courier is on May 6.
On May 19, 2023, the finalists will be posted to the GSIS website, and on June 16, 2023, the winners will be revealed.
What do winners get in return?
There will be three winners. The prizes for the first, second, and third place winners in all categories are Php300,000, Php200,000, and Php100,000, respectively. There will also be five honorable mentions in each category who will receive P25,000 each.
Moreover, the winning artworks will be shown in the GSIS Museo ng Sining in Pasay City and added to the GSIS art collection.
