Dyson, a British technology company popular for their “bagless vacuum cleaner,” reported that they are currently hiring 400 highly-skilled engineers for a new dedicated software lab to rise in Alabang, Muntinlupa City.
The software lab is a part of a 2.75 billion pound or $3.67 billion venture of theirs into the latest technology. This will run and transpire over the next five (5) years, which will be observed to double its product portfolio including the devices that would take it beyond the home.

As per Dyson, the Philippine-based software lab will be part of Dyson’s global Research, Design and Development team spanning across the US, UK, Shanghai, Singapore, and Malaysia..
The Chief Operating Officer (CEO), Scott Maguire, said that the country has what the company needs for their development.
Moreover, he said that Dyson is in the process of growing and in developing technologies for the future; that they will continue to invest to the country, with the trust of working with highly-skilled and highly-educated workers.
The Philippines is home to bright, young engineers who share Dyson’s ambition to develop technologies for the future. Dyson has been growing in the Philippines for this reason and it is a nation that clearly celebrates both engineers and technology... Hope For Dyson
Wondering what type of jobs are going to be open? Furthermore, what specifications do they need? Roles in the software lab that'd be open will include the following:
- Embedded software engineers;
- Automation test engineers;
- Scrum masters;
- Product owners;
- Program managers;
- Release train engineers; and
- Team leaders

As per the company, the engineers would need to have experience in a series of coding languages. In addition, they also would gain advantages if they're knowledgeable in certain development tools.
These engineers will have experience with a range of software coding languages, including real-time embedded ‘C’. They will also have good knowledge of microcontrollers and system on a chip (SoC) processors, and be familiar with embedded development tools."
New Generation of Intelligent Machines
Maguire also made a note in a news briefing last week, that the new software lab would focus on research and development to create a new generation of intelligent machines that understand their environment and their users.

Thus, he's talking more advanced systems and robotics than what we're currently using.
Charito Plaza, the Philippine Economic Zone Authority Director-General praised Dyson’s substantial contribution to investment, export-income generation, and job creation in the country.
He said that the company's plan of setting up a software lab is effective in making it reflect to the plan of the country long-term.
In addition to that, Plaza also said that this will be great because it will give many Filipinos better career plans and professions – long-term.
