The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) is Looking For Statisticians and Directors

In a previous post, we mentioned that the PSA is looking for PhilSys Registration Officers. The deadline of that application has been done and now, the PSA is looking for Statisticians (of different natures) and Directors.

Should any applicant be interested, we will be giving all information what applicants need upon application including the salary, qualifications, and everything that needs to be known for the directors and the statisticians’ vacancies.

What current positions are available?

As per the update done by the PSA, the current job vacancies available are: Two (2) Directors II, two (2) Directors III, four (4) Assistant National Statisticians, and One (1) Deputy National Statistician. 

The release date of this call for intent of the PSA was back on the 28th of August, 2019. As per the announcement, interested applicants have until the 18th of September to apply and submit all necessary documentation requirements.

Without further ado, here are the details of each job vacancy by the PSA.

Director II

  • Place of Assignment (Station): Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) NCR | Regional Statistical Services Office (RSSO) BARMM
  • Number of vacancies: Two (2)
  • Nature of Appointment: Presidential Appointee
  • Salary Grade: SG 26
  • Monthly Salary: P107,444.00 (1st step)
  • Education requirements:
    • Master’s degree preferably in the fields of Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Demography, and Sociology.
  • Training requirement:
    • Training on legal and management related fields (at least 40 hours taken in the past five (5) years.
  • Experience requirement:
    • At least three (3) years of experience in the field of operations supervision and/or management in Census or Survey Operations and Civil Registration
  • Eligibility requirement:
    • Preferably with Career Executive Service Eligibility

Director III

Unlike the Director II post, the Director III post has two (2) places of assignments with different education, experience, training, and eligibility requirements.

  • First (1st) place of Assignment (Station): Office of the National Statistician – Legal Service (LS) 
  • Number of vacancies: Two (2)
  • Nature of Appointment: Presidential Appointee
  • Salary Grade: SG 27
  • Monthly Salary: P121,411.00 (1st step)
  • Education requirements:
    • Bachelor of Laws.
  • Training requirement:
    • Training on legal-related and management (at least 40 hours taken within the past five (5) years.
  • Experience requirement:
    • At least three (3) years of supervisory experience.
  • Eligibility requirement:
    • Republic Act (R.A.) 1080 (BAR) preferably with a Career Executive Service Eligibility.

  • Second (2nd) place of Assignment: Office of the National Statistician – Statistical Methodology Unit (SMU)
  • Number of vacancies: Two (2)
  • Nature of Appointment: Presidential Appointee
  • Salary Grade: SG 27
  • Monthly Salary: P121,411.00 (1st step)
  • Education requirement:
    • Master’s degree in the field of Economics, Mathematics, Sociology, and Statistics.
  • Training requirement:
    • Training on Survey and Census Management of at least 40 hours taken within the pst five (5) years.

Deputy National Statistician (Deputy National Statistician – Assistant Secretary)

  • Place of Assignment: Office of the Deputy National Statistician – Census and Technical Coordination Office (CTTO)
  • Number of vacancy: One (1)
  • Nature of Appointment: Presidential Appointee
  • Salary Grade: SG 29
  • Monthly Salary: P155,030.00 (1st step)
  • Education requirement:
    • Master’s degree preferably in the fields of Economics, Demography, Sociology, Mathematics, and Statistics.
  • Training requirement:
    • Training on Survey and Census Management and/or Operations or Management and Leadership Training.
  • Experience requirement:
    • At least five (5) years with supervisory experience.

Assistant National Statisticians (Director IV)

Similar to the Director III post, the Assistant National Statistician post or the Director IV has four (4) different places of assignments/stations. These have different requirements in terms of education, experience, training, and eligibility, too, so take note.

  • First (1st) place of Assignment: Office of the Assistant National Statistician – Information Technology and Dissemination Service (ITDS),  Census and Technical Coordination Office (CTCO)
  • Number of vacancies: Four (4)
  • Nature of Appointment: Presidential Appointee

  • Education requirement:
    • Master’s degree preferably in the masters fields of Computer Science, Mathematics, Demography, Economics, Statistics, and Information Technology (I.T.).
  • Training requirement:
    • Training on Information Technology (I.T.) or Information Systems (I.S.) with at least 40 hours taken within the past five (5) years.
  • Experience requirement:
    • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Eligibility requirement:
    • Strongly preferred with Career Executive Service Eligibility.

  • Second (2nd) place of assignment: Office of the Assistant National  Statistician – Finance and  Administrative Service (FAS), Civil Registration and Central Support Office (CRCSO)
  • Number of vacancies: Four (4)
  • Nature of Appointment: Presidential Appointee
  • Salary Grade: SG 28
  • Monthly Salary: P137,195.00 (1st step)
  • Education requirement:
    • Master’s degree, preferably given to masters in the fields of Accounting, Management, and Finance.
  • Training requirement:
    • Financial Management training; management training, or administrative with at least 40 hours taken within the past five (5) years.
  • Experience requirement:
    • At least five (5) years of supervisory experience.
  • Eligibility requirement:
    • With Career Executive Service Eligibility.

    • Master’s degree, preferably given to masters in the fields of Accounting, Management, and Finance.

    • Policy and Coordination training, Management, and Management Training with at least 40 hours taken in the past five (5) years.

Documentation requirements

Just like any other job vacancy, applying for any of these directors and statisticians posts would require all qualified applicants to submit a complete set of documents relevant to their application. These would include:

  • Application letter or Letter of Intent with the: Specific Position Title, Salary Grade (SG), and Specific Office/Unit/Service/Station of the assignment included;
  • Photocopy of authenticated eligibility (CESB, CSC, R.A. 1080, PRC, PD 907, etc.);
  • Two (2) original copies of a duly accomplished Personal Data Sheet;
  • CSC Form No. 212, Revised 2017 and Work Experience Sheet (with the CSC Form No. 212) as attachment;
  • Two (2) recent ID pictures taken within the past three (3) months before the application submission;
  • Photocopy of the Transcript of Records (ToR);
  • Photocopy of the Certificate/s of training accredited by the CSC or the CESB relevant to the position participated and applied within the past five (5) years;
  • Affidavit of Informed Consent, Waiver and Undertaking of Compliance to the Minimum Qualification Standards and Requirements, Waiver and Untertaking of Compliance to the Minimum Qualification Standards and Requirements; and
  • Certified copy of the Office Performance Commitment Review (OPCR) and/or an equivalent for the latest rating period.

Deadline of application:

The deadline of the application for any of the job vacancy is on or before September 18, 2019. Applicants can send their applications either through a courier or personal delivery or submission.

Additional notes for application:

  1. Ensure that ALL APPLICATION LETTERS MUST HAVE THE SALARY GRADE AND SPECIFIC STATION OF ASSIGNMENT. Failure to comply to this will result to automatic declination.
